2v2s and 3v3s

TST 3v3 and 2v2 Rules

  • TST always finishes a session with a TRULY SSG game
    • This may be a 2v2 or 3v3 depending on the numbers
    • It will be a relegation / promotion format with all groups playing each other.
  • Try to keep the coaching to a minimum as much as possible during these games.
    • Coach on the run if necessary.
    • But make sure you are engaged in the games and 'commentate enthusiastically to build energy and atmosphere in the games. the players love it.

  • Keep the physicality in the game to a minimum too (Call fouls even if borderline etc)

Basic Rules

  • The one pass rule:

    • A teams needs at least one (definite) pass to score. This starts after every definite touch from the opposition. Tackles dont count as a pass (so if there is a tackle that bounce out to a team-mate then there still needs to be a pass.
  • The half way line rule :

    • A team can't score from their own half
  • The clever lifting rule :

    • A player can lift the ball only if it is a clever scoop (soft - very little force init) otherwise ball must stay low.
  • The lifting rule :

    • If the ball is lifted it must be brought back to the ground immediately. If not the team that lifted it first loses possession.
  • The restart rule :

    • If ball goes out then the team getting possession can run it or pass it in, from where it went out. Plus enforce a distance (2 big strides) rule / or a start behind the ball rule, if the term playing in needs more time and space.
  • The little bit out rule :

    • If ball goes a 'little bit out (fraction of a second) while being 100% under control, and it takes one quick touch to get the ball back onto the pitch then it remains in. [ If a ball goes behind a cone / disc - it is out).
  • The own goal rule :

    • Own goals don't count as goals (attacking team gets the ball back though as a goal kick)
  • The Deflections rule:

    • Deflections count as a goal. If it was a shot and it deflects in, it is a goal.
  • The forcing rule :

    • If a shot is blocked by a defender and goes out, it becomes the defenders ball
  • First time finish rule :

    • Applies if a team is winning by 2 clear goals (can be played at all levels)
    • At higher levels we can add additional rules...(like all players must touch it before they can score, or a player cant score 2 goals in a row). This would only apply  to a team if they are dominating the top pitch. These rules can added in as extra challenge. The coach who is in charge of the top pitch can add these in at their discretion.
